Rivers of the World

BloomInArt & Tees Valley Schools

Rivers of the World and The Story of Water are the Thames Festival Trust’s flagship art and education projects. They are delivered in partnership with the British Council.

This exhibition shows the work of young people from Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool and Redcar and their partner schools in Lebanon. They have worked alongside professional art practitioners, BloomInArt, to create magnificent river-themed artworks, learning through this creative process about the importance of their local waterfront and the environmental challenges it faces.

Because of international lockdowns, the work has been generated both at home and in school, showing artist’s and young people’s strength of spirit and imagination in the face of Covid-19.

In 2021, Rivers of the World was also applied in London, Coventry, Liverpool and Boston in the UK and in Nepal, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Ghana and India.
