Washed Up
by Diane Watson

An illuminated window into our plastic-filled oceans

Most days, local artist Diane Watson journeys to the North East shoreline with her dog and collects hundreds of plastic objects, washed up on the sand and tangled in seaweed. Her winning BRILLIANT artwork is formed of these discarded items, from plastic toys and bottle tops to razors and hair rollers. A kaleidoscopic sculpture of our collective waste, Washed Up makes the facts of our enormous single-use plastic consumption visible, aiming to inspire a shift in attitudes to our own environmental impact.
