✨ Stitching the Stars: Constellation Sewing Workshop
Constellations have long guided sailors across the seas and inspired poets and artists to dream among the stars. In this hands-on workshop with textile artist Holly Capstick, you’ll create your own night-sky-inspired artwork, a beautiful 6-inch textile hoop piece that’s truly one of a kind.
Begin by dyeing silk fabric using a mindful, abstract process inspired by the dreamy hues of the night sky. Then, choose a poetic line (or write your own constellation poem!) to incorporate into your design. Guided by Holly, you’ll learn free-motion machine embroidery, taking your needle on a creative journey across the constellations.
No experience needed, all materials and machines provided. Just bring your imagination and let the stars guide your stitches.
This event is suitable for those over the age of 16.

The Simon James Earthship
Town Square, Hartlepool
In 1977, the twin Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft were launched, and they are still exploring interstellar space where nothing from Earth has flown before. It was like a time capsule for extraterrestrials, and this workshop is your chance to send a message on the same journey through space.
