The Simon James Earthship

In 1977, the twin Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft were launched, and they are still exploring interstellar space where nothing from Earth has flown before. It was like a time capsule for extraterrestrials, and this workshop is your chance to send a message on the same journey through space.

The Simon James Earthship

In 1977, the twin Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft were launched, and they are still exploring interstellar space where nothing from Earth has flown before and travelling at 38000 miles per hour. A gold-plated copper disc was attached to each of the Voyager spacecraft. It was a kind of time capsule that was intended to communicate a story of our world to extraterrestrials. It contained sounds and images portraying the diversity of life on our planet.

Now the messages from EARTHSHIP 1 will make the same journey from Earth into deep space. Would you like to write a message that will be sent into space via a laser beam? This is the workshop for you.
